Olympic Medical Center Becomes First in Washington to Implement Clarix 3D Specimen Imaging

Clarix Imaging is proud to highlight Olympic Medical Center (OMC) as the first hospital in Washington State to implement its 3D specimen imaging technology for breast cancer surgery.

In a recent video feature, Dr. Sandra Tatro, MD, FACS, General Surgeon at OMC, shared how Clarix Imaging is making a meaningful difference in the operating room. By providing real-time, high-resolution 3D images of excised tissue during the procedure, the system helps surgeons visualize specimens more clearly and assess margins with greater confidence.

It really is a game-changer. Being able to see through that dense tissue and see the specimen in three dimensions - and being able to do it right there in the operating room - gives us such a higher level of confidence that we’ve achieved what we set out to do.

For the Port Angeles community, this milestone represents access to innovative breast surgical care closer to home. Enhanced specimen visualization in the operating room can support more informed surgical decision-making during the procedure, with the potential to reduce follow-up surgeries and bring greater peace of mind to both surgeons and patients.

Clarix Imaging’s VSI-360 platform is designed to generate true 3D specimen images with thin-slice visualization and no overlapping tissue obscuring the margins. OMC’s experience reflects growing interest in more advanced imaging workflows that support precision and confidence in breast surgical oncology.
